We’ve all been there. We’re on the road or at the airport only to find ourselves without enough snacks to keep us going.  And if you’re like me you get pretty cranky when you’re hungry. Suddenly your language becomes R-rated, you’re hating the world and saying things that you’ll regret later. There may or may not be serious attitude, eye-rolling and lots of deep breaths. Then somehow someway… you eat something. Suddenly the dark clouds part allowing rays of sunshine to once again warm your face, the birds are chirping and you’re loving life again. You’re motivated and inspired and everything seems possible once more.Lorissa's Kitchen Reviews

After you go around apologizing for all the “hangry” things you said to all those unsuspecting victims (most notably your loved ones) you vow never to let this happen again. You said it before, but this time you really mean it. After all, you weren’t trying to decipher Einstein’s theory of relativity. All you had to do was pack some snacks for the road. Skills involved? Basic organization.

But it can be hard to find travel-friendly snacks on the shelves that are truly as healthy as what is on the label. Typical bags of chips or candy although portable don’t nourish us or keep us full. Filled with preservatives and artificial flavors those snacks often spike our blood sugar only to leave us hungry again, drained of energy and prone to weight gain.  And they certainly don’t have much in the way of healthy protein.

So why should you make sure your snack is a good source of protein?

Protein not only builds and repairs muscle but boosts your metabolism and keeps those dreaded hunger pangs at bay. Snacking on clean and lean protein also keeps your blood sugar levels steady, encouraging fat burn while giving you the energy you need to make the most of your travels.Lorissa's Kitchen Ginger Teriyaki

A company called Lorissa’s Kitchen set out to solve this very snacking predicament.  They created something they call a “protein snack.” They loved the taste and nutrition jerky could provide, but not the suspicious ingredients and commercially sourced meat they are usually made with. Not only are Lorissa’s Kitchen meaty protein snacks tasty, but they’re the perfect snack to stow in your bag for when you’re on the go. And if you like to eat clean they:

  • Have 10-11 grams of protein per serving
  • Use only responsibly raised, 100% grass-fed beef and antibiotic free chicken and pork
  • Do NOT add growth hormones, nitrites, MSG or preservatives
  • Are Gluten FREE!
  • Won’t melt in my bag ?
