If you’re a cat owner this scenario probably sounds familiar. You sit down to get some work done and then who comes over and decides to lounge all over your business? Why none other than your darling kitty, of course.
Ruan Hao and his design team from LYCS Architecture in Hong Kong pondered this very dilemma. They then went straight to the drawing board and designed CATable! It’s a table filled with curious holes, tunnels, nooks and crannies too tempting for any feline friend to pass up. So while you’re hard at work, your kitty can play!
According to the LYCS website, CATable was designed the following ideas in mind (translated from Chinese):
“People who live with cats always have these kind of experiences:
1. Putting away the cat from your laptop was like a sentimental ritual of temporary farewell.
2. A proper sized hole could be so irresistible to cats. Their curiosity would be greatly satisfied through repetitively exploring the unknown path behind the hole.
The design of CATable was a fusion of those experiences, as well a focus where the interaction occurs. It is a table for us, and a paradise for cat.”
LYCS has already received a 2014 “Innovator for Animals Award” award from PETA for this excellent design. These tables aren’t for sale just yet and it will be interesting to see if their consumer version comes in different sizes and colors. Better Living will update as soon as we find out when and where these awesome tables can be purchased. Your cat will thank you!
